Stewardship Ministry
The Stewardship Ministry Team is charged with the responsibility of conducting the Church’s annual stewardship campaign. The stewardship campaign is an annual program conducted by the church and its officers to encourage financial pledges from the church membership with the goal of each member achieving a tithe.
Stewardship 2007-2008
What does it mean to be First Church?:
It means that you are part of a vital ministry and a mission that makes a difference in downtown Greer and around the world.
It means that your support is needed to ensure that we experience the gospel during over 100 worship services a year.

In preparation for this year’s Stewardship Campaign, you will receive reminders like this one over the coming months. By letting you know how your financial giving directly impacts the ability to accomplish our ministry, we believe you will have a better understanding of what we need to get our work done.
I am Music:
This month we are celebrating music.
Have you ever stopped to think about all the wonderful ways in which we sing and
play music
for the glory of God?
We have 7 choirs:
2 children, 3 bells, 2 adults, including the praise team
114 church members participate
How do we make the music?
12 rank Estey pipe organ
6 Orff instruments plus children’s percussion
Over 5 octaves Malmark handbells & handchimes
Sound systems for the sanctuary and the social hall
Music library of over 1400 anthems, praise songs and handbell pieces.
Without the continued giving of your time and talents, none of this would be
possible. Please remember this and give generously
I am Caring:
Here at FPC we care for one another.
We care for those who are sick, hurting, and lonely.
Each month our Share the Care team visits each of our 20
homebound members.
A group of 16 people sends cards to 26 members of this church family. They
often become
friends who love to visit and serve one another.
Other Ministries in the Care of the Congregation include:
Meal Ministry: Ladies in the church prepare casseroles for the people in
need. The Deacon Contacts and the Staff deliver these to anyone that is
sick, shut in, or just needs a lift.
College Students: Care packages are given out to College
Students at exam times and cards
are sent to them throughout the year from different Sunday School classes to let
them know
that we love them.
Intercessory Prayer: Members of the church meet every
Sunday (8:30-8:55) to pray for
the concerns in our church, private concerns, concerns in our community, or
concerns for family members or friends.
I am First Church: I am caring.
I am Youth:
WE are Youth. We grow, fellowship, serve, help, learn, and
follow Christ together. We play instruments, sing, dance, play
sports, work on cars, kayak, study, go to school, come to church,
hang out with friends, fish, run, travel, play, and struggle together.
We are babysitters, mechanics, academics, athletes, musicians,
outdoorsmen and women, servants, leaders and followers,
WE are youth.
We care and need care, we love and need love, we give and
receive.
We are sons and daughters, sisters and brothers.
We are the future and we are the present.
We are excited, loud, wonderful, joyful, inspired and are an inspiration.
Because of your ongoing support, giving, and love we are able to grow,
learn, and be YOUTH at First Church.
I am Children:
On Sunday morning we have nearly 50 children under the age of five learning about God's love.
We have 52 elementary-age children rotating through Bibleville.
Each month they learn about the same Bible story in the
Acts Room (drama),
Thou Art (science, art & cooking),
Mouse House (8 Dell computers),
Temple (Bible story),
Thee-ater (video, and Music.
Wonderful Wednesday provides children opportunities to work with
Puppetry
JAM (Jesus and Music)
KICS (Kids in Christian Service)
Tweens (pre-youth group faith nurturing)
Cherub Choir (for little ones)
Handchimes (for 2nd grade and older)
We also have a Church-wide Retreat, Camping & Canoe trip, Vacation Bible School,
Heavenly Hoops Basketball Camp, and 8 children's basketball teams.
FPCG children see God's face through many people and ministries but without the
continued giving of your time, talent and money, none of this would be possible.
Please remember this and give generously.
I Am First Church: I Am Children
I am Evangelism:
Since 1841, we have been sharing the Good News of Jesus Church in our community, in South Carolina and beyond. Our church is inviting, welcoming, and loving. We often hear from visitors and new members that our church "felt like home" immediately because our members were so warm and friendly.
Members of First Presbyterian Church come from a variety of faith backgrounds and welcome anyone who is open to learning and growing as a Christian to join us for worship and fellowship.
Our Evangelism Ministry team and pastors follow up with visitors with a personal phone call, sharing with them some of the ways in which we love and serve God and each other at First Church. We also do our best to let those in our community who are looking for a church home know about our church. We advertise in the phone book, local newspapers & magazines and we have a great new website (www.fpcgreer.org), full of information for members and visitors alike.
I am Mission & Outreach:
There's no more important task than to share the good news of Jesus Christ with a world that is broken and hurting.
Sometimes we can do that in person as we:
serve at the Daily Bread Ministries Soup Kitchen
deliver Mobile Meals
tutor a child at the Greer Christian Learning Center
assist in hosting GAIHN guests
clean the Taylors Free Medical Clinic
drive a nail at a Habitat House
work with the homeless in Atlanta
help rebuild the interior of a house damaged by Katrina
Sometimes we do that as we give our money that others might serve:
as mission partners for the PCUSA in Thailand, Brazil, the Congo, Mexico, and Northern Ireland
to assist a Presbytery in Ghana and our own Foothills Presbytery in their work
to aid a rural health clinic in a third world country
I am First Church and I am about the mission of Jesus Christ here and around the world.
I am Faithful:
I am faithful.
I try to live in accord with God's will. I apply God's commandments and the teachings of Jesus Christ to my daily life. I know that my life and the lives of those around me will be more abundance in so doing.
I am disciplined.
It is my responsibility to grow in faith. I attend and actively participate in Sunday services. I teach our youth and care of our elderly. I fellowship and support my brothers and sisters in Christ. I volunteer my time and talents. I freely tithe of my income to financially support the church and programs.
I pray often and in earnest.
I pray for myself, I pray for my family, and I pray for the Church of God. I pray for my enemies. I read my Bible. I seek wisdom, I seek solace, and I seek forgiveness.
I am faithful.
I am disciplined in my faith out of a deep thankfulness for forgiveness and salvation. I am faithful because I know that my personal relationship with God has a profound impact not only on my life but also on the lives of those around me.
I am First Church: I am faithful.
