The Budget and Finance Ministry Team is a
standing committee under the direction of the Session.
Its members consist of at least four persons:
chair, vice-chair, church treasurer, and a representative from the Diaconate.
The chair and vice chair are appointed by the Moderator of the Session. The
treasurer is an elected officer of the corporation (Church) and serves on the
committee by virtue of his/her office. Other members at large (usually selected
from Time & Talent Sheets) may be added to the committee from time to time at
the discretion of the chair.
The duties of the Budget and Finance Ministry
Team are as follows:
sPrepare the annual budget of the
church and present it to the Session for final approval. In preparing the
budget, the committee shall seek and receive input from all chaired committees
within the church, the pastor, and church employees.
sIn conjunction with the Church
Treasurer and Financial Secretary, make monthly, quarterly, and annual financial
reports to the Session.
sOversee and coordinate the
counting and safekeeping of weekly and special contributions also in conjunction
with the Church Treasurer and Financial Secretary.
sOversee and assure that the
Church operates within the Session’s approved budget.
sOversee an annual audit of all
Church financial records.
sOversee the cash management of
the Church’s funds in conjunction with the Church Treasurer and Financial
Secretary.
sResponsible to the Session for
managing the Church’s Investment in accordance with The Investment Policy.
Reporting the status and earnings on the Church investment to the Session at
least annually.
